Everyone on the Coterie Spark team considers Livestock Show and Rodeo season to be their favorite celebratory season for Houston. From the boost it provides to our local economy, and the investment in the future of the youth of Texas it represents, to the sheer magnitude of the volunteer driven production, we just can’t get enough Rodeo!
This year, Rebecca, Candace and Bianca all served as volunteer members of the Wine Events Committee, which boasted over $1.6 Million in sales at the live auction and over $79,000 in funds in the silent auction, all towards scholarships for students in Texas.
In addition to volunteering, we love to capitalize on Rodeo season for hosting our clients to a night of fun and a glimpse into the tradition of Western culture and music. Just last week, we were able to host one of our clients for Rodeo and were treated to a VIP backstage tour courtesy of LD Systems, the official provider of sound, light and video services to HLSR for 25 years and counting. We were thoroughly impressed with LD as they pulled out all the stops with the engineering of a new fully automated lighting rig, consisting of over two hundred and fifty new moving light fixtures to complement the impressive stage and arena lighting package they traditionally boast.
We have to say, though, that our all-time favorite production trick of Rodeo is the stealthy roll out and running of what has to be the largest portable rotating stage out there. It’s no small feat to coordinate to the level of technical detail and degree night after night in the 10 minutes they have to get the stage running all 20 nights of the rodeo.
That truly is the level of intricate detail in transition and execution that gets Coterie Spark going!
